A few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Nuria in the enchanting town of Montalcino during the "Tutto in un sorso" wine fair in Montalcino, organised by Francesca Padovani. From our first encounter, I was captivated by her charisma and passion for winemaking. Her storytelling abilities, especially when it came to her wines, truly impressed me.

Two years ago, I had the privilege of visiting her new estate before heading to Barcelona, an experience I won't soon forget. As I stepped onto her estate grounds, I was greeted by the melodic strains of "La Pazzia" by Ornella Vanoni, Toquino, and Vinicius, creating the perfect soundtrack for my arrival. The music resonated deeply, setting the tone for what was to come.

Nuria's journey in the world of wine has been fascinating. She began as a sommelier, working for a long time at the renowned Bar Brutal, where she honed her palate and deepened her understanding of the complexities of wine. Transitioning into wine production, she showcased her talent and creativity, crafting wines of exceptional quality.

Now, Nuria embarks on a new adventure with her vineyard in Can Barceló.

Nestled amidst a forest of pine trees, her estate is a true oasis of tranquillity and beauty. Together with Arola, she is painstakingly restoring the estate with patience, tenacity, and love, creating a haven for wine lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of tasting some previews of Nuria's wines, and I was thoroughly impressed. Each wine possesses its own unique mood and personality, reflecting Nuria's distinct vision and creative process. From bold reds to crisp whites, every bottle tells a story, drawing you into the world of Nuria Renom. Her character also shines through in the distinctive labels.

You can tell by my favourites that I had a big crush with her crispy pet nats:

  • La Maca Beu, pet nat made by Macabeo and Moscatel, fresh, crispy with a lovely fruity nose

  • Adda, pet nat made with Parellada, very very fresh and light

  • Diva, macerated white wine made with 100% Garnacha Blanca

  • Everything But The Kitchen Sink, pet nat rosé with a short maceration of Tempranillo grapes

In Nuria's wines, you can taste the passion, dedication, and artistry that she brings to her craft. Her vineyard in Can Barceló is not just a place where grapes are grown and wine is made; it's a testament to Nuria's unwavering commitment to uniqueness and her profound love for the land.
